Srilankan Dal Curry Dal cooked with coconut milk in the Sri Lankan way This recipe is from FoodFood TV channel By Sanjeev Kapoor 13 Apr 2015 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Split red lentils (masoor dal), Turmeric powder Cuisine Sri Lankan Course Dals and Kadhis Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 21-25 minutes Serve 4 Taste Mild Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for Srilankan Dal Curry 1 cup Split red lentils (masoor dal) soaked and drained ¼ tablespoon Turmeric powder to taste Salt 1 Onion 2 Green chillies 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds ¼ teaspoon Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) 10-12 Curry leaves ¼ cup Thick coconut milk 1 teaspoon Lemon juice Method Put red lentils, 2 cups water, turmeric powder and salt in a non-stick pan and mix well. Cover and cook till the lentils are done. Slice onion. Slit green chillies without cutting through and add to the pan. For tempering, heat coconut oil in another non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds and let them splutter. Add curry leaves and onion and sauté for ½ minute. Pour the tempering over the cooked lentils and mix well. Add coconut milk and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Add lemon juice and mix well. Cover and cook for a minute. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
