Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Tofu and Paneer Bhurji Recipe

  • Tofu (bean curd) , grated 200 grams

  • Cottage cheese (paneer) , grated 200 grams

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Onion , finely chopped 1 medium

  • Ginger-garlic paste 2 teaspoons

  • Tomato , fienly chopped 1 medium

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves , chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Fresh coriander sprig to garnish

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add onion and sauté till translucent. Add ginger-garlic paste, mix and sauté till onion turns a light golden

Step 2

Add tomato, mix and sauté till soft. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and cumin powder, mix and sauté for 1 minute.

Step 3

Add 3-4 tablespoons water, mix and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add cottage cheese and tofu, mix and cook for 1 minute.

Step 4

Add salt, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 5

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprigs and serve hot.
