Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Veg Malai Sandwich - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Green capsicum finely chopped 1 medium

  • Carrot grated 1 medium

  • Fresh malai 1/2 cup

  • White bread slices 8

  • Green chillies chopped 2-3

  • Black pepper powder to taste

  • Salt to taste

  • Butter for applying

  • Green chutney for applying + to serve

  • Processed cheese grated to sprinkle

  • Tomato ketchup to serve


Step 1

Take onion in a large bowl, add capsicum, carrot, green chillies, crushed black peppercorns, salt, fresh malai and mix till well combined.

Step 2

Apply butter and green chutney on 4 white bread slices, spread some vegetable mixture on each evenly.

Step 3

Sprinkle grated cheese and cover with remaining bread slices. Apply butter on top.

Step 4

Heat a griller and place the prepared sandwich on it. Grill till golden brown marks appear on both sides. Take it off the heat.

Step 5

Cut each sandwich into 2 triangles, keep them on a serving plate and serve hot with green chutney and tomato ketchup.
