Ingredients for Wasabi Shrimp on Pita Recipe

  • Medium shrimps shelled and deveined 20-25

  • Wasabi paste 1 tablespoon

  • Mini round pita breads grilled till golden as required

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Spring onion bulbs chopped 2-3

  • Garlic chopped 4-5 cloves

  • Ginger finely chopped 1 inch

  • Fresh red chillies diagonally sliced 4-5 + to sprinkle

  • Soy sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Fish sauce 2 teaspoons

  • Oyster sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns cruhsed to taste

  • Cornflour slurry 4 teaspoons

  • White sesame seeds 1 tablespo to sprinkle

  • Spring onion greens 2 tablespoons

  • Medium avocado 1

  • Lemon 1

  • Spring onion greens cut into strips to garnish

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add spring onion bulbs, garlic, ginger and red chillies, mix and sauté for a minute. Add shrimps, mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Step 2

Add soya sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, salt and crushed black peppercorns, mix well and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add cornflour slurry, mix well and cook on high heat for 2-3 minutes or till the mixture thickens.

Step 4

Sprinkle sesame seeds and spring onions greens, mix and sauté for a minute and take the pan off the heat.

Step 5

Halve the avocado, remove the seed and scoop out the flesh avocado into a bowl. Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into the bowl and mash the mixture well with a fork. Add wasabi paste and mix well. Transfer the mixture into a piping bag.

Step 6

Place pita breads on a serving platter, pipe out the avocado mixture over each of them and top with a portion of the shrimp mixture.

Step 7

Sprinkle sesame seeds and fresh red chillies on top, garnish with spring onion greens strips and serve immediately.
