Khoya Kurmura Barfi Barfis are an integral part of Indian mithais that are cooked and served during the various Hindu festivals. Here we bring you a mithai where mawa and kurmura that are cooked together to make a heavenly barfi. A simple recipe that will get you drooling! By Sanjeev Kapoor 31 Aug 2024 in Recipes Mithais New Update Main ingredients Mawa, Puffed rice (kurmura), Ghee, Powdered sugar, Green cardamom powder, Nutmeg powder, Cashewnuts, Pistachios, Almonds Cuisine Indian Course Mithais Prep time 2-3 hours Cook time 15-20 minutes Serve 4 Taste Sweet Level of cooking Moderate Others Vegetarian Ingredients 1½ cups puffed rice (kurmura) 2½ cups mawa (khoya), grated 2-3 tablespoons ghee + for greasing ¾ cup powdered sugar ½ teaspoon green cardamom powder A pinch of nutmeg powder 1 tablespoon chopped cashewnuts + for sprinkling 1 tablespoon slivered pistachios + for sprinkling 1 tablespoon slivered almonds + for sprinkling Method Heat 1 tablespoon ghee in a non-stick pan, add puffed rice and roast till they are crisp. Transfer on a plate and let it cool down to room temperature. Heat remaining ghee in a same pan, add mawa and sauté for 2-3 minutes on low heat. Add powdered sugar, mix well and cook on low heat, stirring continuously, for 3-4 minutes. Add roasted puffed rice and mix well. Add green cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, cashewnuts, pistachios and almonds and mix well. Transfer the mixture into greased burfi tray, and spread evenly. Sprinkle cashewnuts, pistachios and almonds on top and gently press with the back of the spoon. Let it set for 2-3 hours.
