Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Aloo Bharta - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled and peeled 3 medium

  • Oil 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Garlic chopped 1/2 tablespoon

  • Ginger chopped 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Green chillies chopped 1-2

  • Spring onions with greens chopped 3-4

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Kitchen king masala 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Salt

  • Dried mango powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Spring onion green chopped for garnish


Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and allow them to change colour.

Step 2

Add garlic, ginger, green chillies and spring onions, mix well and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3

Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and Kitchen King Masala, mix well and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Step 4

Grate the potatoes and add to the pan. Add ½ cup water and mix well. Cook for 1 minute.

Step 5

Add coriander leaves, salt and dried mango powder, mix well and cook for 1 minute. Take it off the heat.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot.
