Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Barbecued Chicken Recipe

  • Chicken whole 800 grams

  • Barbeque sauce

  • Onions 2 medium

  • Butter 4 tablespoons

  • Garlic crushed 2 cloves

  • Tomato ketchup 1 cup

  • Chilli sauce 1/4 cup

  • Mustard powder 1 teaspoon

  • Brown sugar 1/2 cup

  • Vinegar 1/4 cup

  • Worcestershire sauce 2 tablespoons

  • Black pepper powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Skin the chicken and make incisions with a sharp knife on breast and leg pieces. Finely chop one onion, cut the other into roundels and then separate the rings. Keep the onion rings in chilled water to make it crisp.

Step 2

Heat two tablespoons of butter in a non stick pan, add finely chopped onions and garlic and fry till translucent. Add tomato ketchup, chilli sauce, mustard powder, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper powder, red chilli powder and salt and simmer on low heat for ten minutes. Set aside to cool.

Step 3

Keep aside a little sauce to serve with the cooked chicken and apply the remaining to the chicken and let it stand for about an hour in a refrigerator. Preheat oven to 180°C.

Step 4

Cook the chicken in a pre-heated oven at 180°C for ten to twelve minutes or until almost done. Baste it with the remaining butter and cook for another four minutes

Step 5

Serve hot with crisp rings of onion and the reserved barbecue sauce.
