How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Cook time : 11-15 minutes

Ingredients for Curd Rice Recipe

  • Rice 1 cup

  • Yogurt 2 cup

  • Ginger 2 inch piece

  • Green chillies 3

  • Mustard seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Curry leaves 1 tablespoon

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste


Step 1

Peel and chop the ginger. Wash and chop the green chillies. Wash the curry leaves. Prepare steamed rice. Cool the rice then add curds and mix well. Keep aside in a bowl. In a pan heat some oil, add mustard seeds.

Step 2

Once they crackle add asafoetida and curry leaves. Then add chopped green chilies and ginger. Remove from heat and keep aside. Add salt to the rice and curd mixture. Mix. Pour the seasoning onto the rice and curd mixture. Mix well and serve.
