Ingredients list for Falafel With Oats

  • 1/2 cup Chickpeas (kabuli chana) soaked and boiled
  • 1 cup Oats
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander seeds roasted
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds roasted
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 2-3 Black peppercorns roasted
  • 1 Green chilli
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons Olive oil
  • to deep fry Oil

Method

  1. Grind together chickpeas, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, salt, peppercorns, green chilli, coriander leaves, garlic and lemon juice into a coarse paste.
  2. Transfer the mixture into a bowl and add breadcrumbs, oats, olive oil and enough water to make a stiff dough.
  3. Divide the dough into equal portions and shape into one-inch ovals.Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep-fry the falafels, a few at a time, on medium heat till golden brown.
  4. Drain on absorbent paper. Serve hot.
