Ingredients list for Gehun Ka Halwa

  • 1 cup Broken wheat
  • 1 cup Ghee
  • 5-6 strands Saffron (kesar)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Green cardamom powder
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Khoya/mawa,grated
  • 5-6 Almonds,blanched and slivered

Method

  1. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Add lapsi and sauté on low heat till brownish red in colour. Add saffron and mix well.
  2. Add 6 cups water and mix well. Cook, stirring continuously, adding water as required till lapsi is soft.
  3. Add green cardamom powder, sugar and khoya and mix well. Add almonds and mix well.
  4. Cook for 3-4 minutes more.
