We all desire harmony in our lives and this works on the ancient Taoist principle of Yin and Yang in which balance and contrast are the key. Each Chinese dish reflects a balance of taste, texture, aroma and colour. Be it sweet, sour, pungent, hot, salty or spicy – all the six basic flavours are incorporated deftly in all Chinese dishes.

Ingredients for Ginger Tomato Fried Rice Recipe

  • Ginger thin slices 6-10

  • Cooked rice 3 cups

  • Tomato ketchup 2 tablespoons

  • Olive oil 1 tablespoon

  • Dried red chillies broken 2-3

  • Salt to taste

  • Soy sauce 1 teaspoon

  • Vinegar 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Red chilli paste 1 tablespoon

Method

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a wok, add dried red chillies, ginger slices and sauté till fragrant. Add rice and saute on a medium heat.

Step 2

Add soy sauce, vinegar, salt, red chilli paste and tomato ketchup and mix well. Serve hot.
