You might be picking out these emerald hued little jewels from your food. But, wait, before you do that anymore! As these are a good source of fibre and potassium, which keeps all of our body cells functioning properly. Just when you thought that green peas are only used to add that extra punch to your savoury dishes, try a rich, creamy matar ki kheer to satiate your sweet buds too!

Ingredients for Green Peas And Potato Curry Recipe

  • Green Peas shelled 3/4 cup

  • Potatoes cut into small pieces 3 medium

  • Coconut scraped 1 cup

  • Dried red chillies seeded 4-5

  • Coriander seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Black peppercorns 7-8

  • Oil 3 tablespoons

  • Curry leaves 10

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Green chillies slit 2

  • Kokum petals 3-4

  • Coconut milk 3/4 cup

Method

Step 1

Grind coconut, red chillies, coriander seeds and peppercorns to a smooth paste.

Step 2

Heat oil in a pan. Add curry leaves and sauté for two minutes. Add the potatoes and salt. Stir, cover and cook. Add turmeric powder and mix.

Step 3

Add green chillies, the ground masala and half a cup of water and mix well. Add green peas and mix. Cover and cook on medium heat till the potatoes and peas are done.

Step 4

Adjust salt, add kokum and simmer for two minutes. Add coconut milk and cook on low heat for five minutes. Rest the curry for about fifteen minutes before serving.
