Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Healthy Moong Sprouts ki Chaat Recipe

  • Whole green grams (moong)

  • Onions chopped 4 tablespoons

  • Tomatoes chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Green chillies finely chopped 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Chaat masala 2 teaspoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Roasted peanuts 2 tablespoons

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

  • Yogurt 1/2 cup

  • Green chutney 2 tablespoons

  • Sweet tamarind chutney 2 tablespoons

  • Sev 1/4 cup + to garnish


Step 1

Soak green gram in sufficient water overnight. Drain into a muslin cloth and squeeze to drain out the excess water. Set aside for 1-2 days till sprouts are formed.

Step 2

Put the sprouts into a mixing bowl, add onions, tomatoes, green chillies, turmeric powder, chaat masala, salt, peanuts, lemon juice, yogurt, green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney and mix well. Add sev and mix well.

Step 3

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with sev and serve immediately.
