Ingredients

  • 3 onions, sliced
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ cup gram flour
  • ½ cup rice flour
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ¾ teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 green chilli, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Tomato ketchup to serve
  • Green chutney to serve

Method

  1. Take onions in a large bowl, sprinkle salt and mix well. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  3. Add gram flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, green chilli and coriander leaves and mix well.
  4. Drop in small portions of the mixture with your fingers into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Transfer onto a serving plate and serve hot with tomato ketchup and green chutney.
