Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Lamb And French Bean Stew Recipe

  • Boneless Lamb 700 grams

  • French Beans 450 grams

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Onion chopped 1 large

  • Garlic minced 4-5 cloves

  • Ginger minced 1/2 inch piece

  • Green chillies chopped 4

  • Fresh red chillies chopped 2

  • Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon

  • Mixed herbs 1 tablespoon

  • Potatoes cut into 1 inch cubes 2 medium

  • Salt to taste


Step 1

Cut lamb into one inch cubes. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the lamb pieces and brown them. Drain and keep aside.

Step 2

Add onions to the same skillet and sauté for two to three minutes. Add ginger and garlic and sauté over high heat for half a minute.

Step 3

Add green and red chillies and sauté for two minutes. Add black pepper powder, dried herbs and mix. Add diced potatoes, green beans, salt and mix.

Step 4

Add two cups of water and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and cook for thirty five to forty minutes or till the meat is cooked.

Step 5

Serve immediately with rice.
