Ingredients list for Macaroni Upma

  • 2 cups Macaroni pasta boiled
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Split skinless black grams (dhuli urad dal)
  • 5-6 Curry leaves
  • a pinch Asafoetida
  • 1 Medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 Medium tomato finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Green peas blanched
  • 1 Small green chilli chopped
  • 1 tablespo to garnish Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. Heat oil in a deep non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add split black grams, curry leaves, asafoetida and onion, mix well and sauté till onion turns golden brown.
  2. Add tomato, mix and sauté till it turns pulpy. Add green peas and mix well.
  3. Add green chilli, mix and sauté for a minute. Add macaroni pasta and sprinkle little water and mix well. Add coriander leaves and mix well. Cover and cook on medium heat for 6-7 minutes. Add salt and mix well and cook for a minute.
  4. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
