By Sanjeev Kapoor 07 Mar 2017 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Prawns (medium), Scraped coconut Cuisine Maharashtrian Course Main Course Seafood Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 21-25 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Non Veg Ingredients list for Malwani Prawns ½ cup Prawns (medium) shelled and deveined with tails intact ½ cup Scraped coconut ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder to taste Salt 2 tablespoons Oil 1 teaspoon Coriander seeds 3-4 Dried red chillies 1 medium Onion finely chopped 1 teaspoon Malwani masala 1 teaspoon Rice 1 tablespoon Garlic chopped ½ cup Coconut milk 3-4 Kokum petals to garnish Dried red chilli 1 fried Method Put prawns in a bowl, add turmeric powder and salt, mix and set aside to marinate. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a shallow non-stick pan. Add coriander seeds and sauté till fragrant. Break red chillies and add to the pan and sauté for a minute. Add half the onion and sauté till golden. Add coconut, mix and roast for 30 seconds. Switch off heat and add rice. Grind this mixture with some water to a fine paste. Heat remaining oil in another non-stick pan. Add remaining onion and sauté on high heat till golden. Add garlic and sauté till golden. Add ground paste, mix and cook for a minute. Add marinated prawns, mix and cook for a minute. Reduce heat, add Malwani masala and mix well. Add some water, mix and cook on low heat for 5 minutes. Add coconut milk and mix well. Add kokum petals, mix and cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes. Serve hot garnished with a fried dried red chilli.
