Ingredients list for Masalapara

  • 1/2 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1/2 cup Refined Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons Ghee
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 2 teaspoons Chaat masala
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 cloves Garlic finely chopped

Method

  1. Mix the two flours and baking powder.
  2. Add ghee and rub in with fingertips to get a mixture resembling breadcrumbs.
  3. Add salt, carom seeds, chaat masala, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and garlic .
  4. Add sufficient cold water and knead into a stiff dough.
  5. Cover the dough and let it rest for some time
  6. Preheat oven to 200°C. Grease a baking tray with a little oil and sprinkle refined flour on it.
  7. Sprinkle some refined flour on a flat surface and roll out the dough into a half-centimeter thick disc.
  8. Cut the rolled out dough into diamond shaped pieces .
  9. Place them on the baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for fifteen to twenty minutes.
  10. Serve hot or cool completely and store in an airtight container.
