Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Masaledar Machchli Recipe

  • Rawas 4 slices

  • Tamarind paste 2 tablespoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Mustard oil to shallow

  • Rice flour 1 cup

  • Onion sliced 1 medium

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon

  • Lemon sliced 1

Method

Step 1

Place fish slices in a bowl and marinate with turmeric powder, ¾ tsp red chilli powder, salt, garam masala powder and tamarind paste for about 15 minutes.

Step 2

Heat sufficient oil in a non stick pan.

Step 3

Apply rice flour to the marinated fish slices, place them on the pan, cover and shallow fry, turning sides till they turn golden on both sides.

Step 4

Place the onion slices on a serving plate, sprinkle some of the remaining red chilli powder and a little chaat masala over them. Arrange lemon slices over them.

Step 5

Drain the fish slices on absorbent paper. Transfer the slices onto the plate. Sprinkle some chaat masala and red chilli powder over them and serve hot.
