Yes, though other meats being more common, biryani eaters all over the world can easily swear by mutton. And not just biryanis, curries, bakes and all other preparations with this wonderful meat are always special. Did you know, unlike other dishes, a day-old mutton prep will always be all the more tastier on the palate! Try it the next time you plan on to take on this meat.

Ingredients for Onion Meatballs Recipe

  • Mutton mince (keema) ½ cup

  • Onions 3 medium

  • Salt to taste

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Fresh thyme 2

  • Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon

  • Cumin powder ½ teaspoon

  • Cinnamon powder ¼ teaspoon

  • Bacon as required

Method

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180° C.

Step 2

Halve the onions and separate the layers. Make pairs of two similar sized onion layers and keep aside eight such pairs. Chop the remaining onions.

Step 3

Mix together chopped onion, mutton mince, salt, garlic, crushed peppercorns, thyme, turmeric powder, cumin powder and cinnamon powder in a bowl. Divide the mixture into eight portions and stuff each portion into each pair of onion layers.

Step 4

Wrap these with bacon strips and secure with toothpick.

Step 5

Place the wrapped parcels on a baking tray, put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for fifteen to twenty minutes.

Step 6

Serve hot with barbeque sauce.
