Italian cuisine has developed through centuries of social and political changes, with roots stretching to antiquity.  Italian cuisine is simple and a number of dishes having only four to eight ingredients.  They rely mostly on the quality of ingredients rather than elaborate preparation.
Noteworthy changes in Italian cuisine happened with the discovery of the New World and the introduction of potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers and maize, which are now an integral part of this cuisine.  Italian cuisine is known for its regional diversity each with a distinct taste.  This cuisine today is probably one of the most popular in the world.

Ingredients for Pizza Four in One Recipe

  • Refined Flour 1 1/2 cups + for dusting

  • Tomato Puree 1 cup

  • Oil 1 tablespoon + for greasing

  • Fresh yeast 20 grams

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • For topping

  • Olive oil 6 tablespoons

  • Garlic cloves sliced 6-8

  • Onions sliced 2 medium

  • Celery thickly sliced 1 teaspoon

  • Tomatoes roughly chopped 5 medium

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli flakes 1 teaspoon

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Fresh basil leaves 6-8

  • Onion roughly chopped 1 medium

  • Green capsicum cut into thick strips 1 medium

  • Dried mixed herbs 1 teaspoon

  • Button mushrooms thickly sliced 4-5

  • Fresh large red chillies sliced 2-3

  • Black olives pitted and sliced 5-6

  • Green olives pitted and sliced 5-6

  • Pickled jalapeno 1

  • Mozzarella cheese 75 grams


Step 1

Preheat oven at 220ºC.

Step 2

To make the sauce, heat 3 tablespoons olive oil in a non-stick pan.

Step 3

Slice garlic cloves and add to the pan, saute well. Add sliced onion, celery, mix well and saute till onion turns golden.

Step 4

Add tomatoes, mix and saute on high heat. Add salt, mix and cook till tomatoes turn soft and pulpy or for 10-15 minutes.

Step 5

Add tomato puree, mix well and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes.

Step 6

Divide pizza dough into equal large portions. Dust a worktop and place a portion on it, flatten a little and roll out into a large disc dusting with flour. This is the pizza base.

Step 7

Dust a baking tray with flour and place the pizza base on it.

Step 8

Use the remaining dough to make some thin long cylinders. Place them on the pizza base to make a cross so that the base gets divide into four parts. Prick the base with a fork, put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 7-8 minutes.

Step 9

Add red chilli flakes and crushed peppercorns to the sauce. Switch off heat and add 3-4 torn basil leaves. Mix well.

Step 10

Spread some sauce on each part of the pizza base. For first part, top with chopped onion and capsicum, sprinkle salt, ½ teaspoon dried herbs and crushed peppercorns on top. For second part, top with mushrooms and red chillies, sprinkle salt and crushed peppercorns on top. For third part, top with black olives, green olives and sliced jalapeno, sprinkle salt, remaining dried herbs and crushed peppercorns on top. For fourth part, top with remaining torn basil leaves, sprinkle salt and crushed peppercorns on top.

Step 11

Drizzle remaining olive oil on top of the entire assembled pizza, grate mozzarella cheese one each part, put the tray in preheated oven and bake till the cheese melts.

Step 12

Serve hot.
