Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Potato Dosa Recipe

  • Potatoes , boiled and peeled 2 medium

  • Semolina (rawa / suji) 1 cup

  • Rice flour 1/2 cup

  • Refined flour (maida) 1/4 cup

  • Cashewnuts , crushed 6

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns , crushed to taste

  • Ginger , chopped 1/2 inch

  • Green chillies , chopped 2

  • Fresh coriander leaves, , chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Ghee to cook

  • Green coconut chutney to serve

  • Sambhar to serve


Step 1

Roughly chop the potatoes and transfer into a blender jar and grind into a fine paste.

Step 2

Transfer into a mixing bowl, add semolina, rice flour, refined flour, cashewnuts, salt, crushed black peppercorns, ginger, green chillies, coriander leaves and 4 cups water and whisk thoroughly to a thin batter. Set aside for 15 minutes.

Step 3

Heat a non-stick tawa and pour a ladle of batter on it and spread thinly. Drizzle ghee on top and cook till it turns brown and crisp.

Step 4

Fold the dosa and serve hot with coconut chutney and sambhar. Make more dosas with the remaining batter.
