Ingredients list for Punjabi Chicken

  • 450 grams Boneless chicken breasts cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic finely chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ginger finely chopped
  • 1-2 Green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 Large onion finely chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 Large tomato finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Punjabi garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped
  • to garnish Fresh coriander sprigs

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add garlic and ginger, mix well and sauté till raw smells disappear.
  2. Add green chillies and onion, mix well and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder, mix well and saute for 1 minute. Add tomato, mix well and saute till the tomato turn soft and pulpy.
  4. Add chicken, mix and cook for 3-4 minutes. Add 1 cup water, mix, cover and cook for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Add Punjabi garam masala powder and coriander leaves, mix well and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprigs and serve hot.
