Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Saloni Recipe

  • Potatoes peeled and cut into thin strips (salli) and soaked 2 medium

  • Green Peas boiled 2 cups

  • Ghee 1 tablespoon

  • Ginger finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Green chillies finely chopped 2-3

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Dried mango powder (amchur) 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped 1 1/2 cups

  • Juice of ½ lemon

Method

Step 1

Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add ginger and green chillies and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Step 2

Drain potatoes, add to the pan and mix. Add turmeric powder, dried mango powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder and salt and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3

Add green peas and coriander leaves and mix well. Cook for 3-4 minutes. Add lemon juice and mix well. Cook further for 1-1½ minutes.

Step 4

Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
