Ingredients list for Seyal Dabal

  • 1 loaf Bread
  • 4 tablespoons Tomato
  • a pinch Asafoetida
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 2 medium Tomatoes chopped
  • 2 Green chillies chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice

Method

  1. Trim the edges of the bread slices if you wish or let them remain. Tear them into medium sized pieces. Heat oil in a pan. Add asafoetida, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and onion. Sauté till the onions are translucent.
  2. Add tomatoes and stir. Add green chillies, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and mix. Sauté for two to three minutes. Add one cup of water and salt to taste. When the water comes to a boil add the torn bread pieces and mix well.
  3. When all the water has been absorbed, sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and mix lightly. Add lemon juice and mix. Serve hot immediately.
