Ingredients list for Tadka Bread

  • 6-8 Bread slices
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • a pinch Asafoetida
  • 5-7 Curry leaves
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • to taste Salt
  • for garnishing Fresh coriander leaves 1-2 tablespoons + a spring

Method

  1. Roughly chop green chillies. Tear and grind the bread slices coarsely.
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, chillies and curry leaves and mix well. Add onion, mix and sauté till golden.
  3. Add turmeric powder, sugar and salt and mix well. Add breadcrumbs and mix well.
  4. Add some water and mix well. Add coriander leaves, mix, cover and cook for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Serve hot garnished with a coriander sprig.
