And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Tadkewala Aloo ka Raita Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes 2 medium

  • Yogurt whisked 2 cups

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Coriander seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Dried red chillies 3

  • Green chillies finely chopped 1-2

  • Ginger finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Red chilli powder 1/4 tsp + for sprink

  • Roasted cumin powder 1/4 tsp + for sprink

  • Salt to taste

  • Dried mango powder (amchur) 1/4 teaspoon

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon


Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add asafoetida, coriander seeds, mustard seeds, dried red chillies, green chillies and ginger and sauté for a minute.

Step 2

Add potatoes, mix well and sauté till the potatoes are lightly browned.

Step 3

Add ¼ tsp red chilli powder, ¼ tsp roasted cumin powder and salt and mix well.

Step 4

Add salt to the yogurt, mix and keep aside.

Step 5

Transfer the potato mixture into a serving bowl. Add dried mango powder, 1½ cups yogurt and mix well. Spread the remaining yogurt on top.

Step 6

Sprinkle red chilli powder and roasted cumin powder and serve chilled.
