A favourite with the vegetarians, paneer made from milk is quite common, especially paneer recipes are quite popular in the Indian subcontinent. You can make it fresh, chhena – an another version or just use the ones that are readily available in the market to prepare everything from simple snacks, curries, sabzis, mithais, desserts and the likes. An ingredient that can be relished in the raw form too – try serving it as a starter just sprinkled with a little chaat masala, black salt and chilli powder!

Ingredients for Thyme Paneer Sliders Recipe

  • Paneer (cottage cheese) cut into 1 inch cubes 400 grams

  • Burger buns mini 8

  • Fresh thyme chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Hung yogurt ½ cup

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Turmeric powder ¼ teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

  • Oil 2 tablespoons + to shallow fry

  • Mayonnaise 4 tablespoons

  • Mustard paste 2 teaspoons

  • Iceberg lettuce leaves a few

  • Tomatoes sliced 2 medium

  • Onion cut into roundels 1 medium


Step 1

Put yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, thyme, turmeric powder, salt, lemon juice, two tablespoons oil in a bowl and mix well.Add cottage cheese cubes and mix well. Refrigerate for two to three hours.

Step 2

Heat some oil in a non-stick grill pan. Place the marinated cottage cheese cubes in it and grill till evenly done form all sides. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Step 3

Halve the buns horizontally and toast them on the same pan. Set aside.

Step 4

Mix together the mayonnaise and mustard paste in a bowl.

Step 5

Apply the prepared mayo-mustard on both sides of the buns. Place some lettuce on half of the base half of the buns and top with two grilled cottage cheese cubes.

Step 6

Put tomato slices and onion roundels on top. Cover with remaining bun halves and secure with toothpicks.

Step 7

Serve immediately with potato chips.
