Ingredients list for Tilwale Aloo Tikki

  • 4 large Potatoes
  • 100 grams Cottage Cheese
  • a few sprigs Fresh coriander leaves
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 2 inch piece Ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder (deghi mirch)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 3-4 tablespoons Bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons Cornflour/ corn starch
  • to taste Salt
  • 5 tablespoons Sesame seeds (til)
  • to deep fry Oil

  1. Boil, peel and mash potatoes. Grate paneer and keep aside. Clean, wash and finely chop coriander leaves. Remove stems, wash and finely chop green chillies. Peel, wash and finely chop ginger.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the mashed potatoes, grated paneer, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, coriander leaves, green chillies, ginger, breadcrumbs, cornflour and salt.
  3. Divide the mixture into sixteen equal portions and shape into flat round thick tikkis. Heat sufficient oil in a kadhai. Coat each tikki with sesame seeds and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown.
  4. Drain onto an absorbent paper and serve hot.
