Ingredients for Veg Chilli Momos Recipe

  • Refined flour dough rolled out and cut into roundels as required

  • Oil 2 tablespo to deep fry

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespo teaspoon

  • Spring onion bulbs finely chopped 2

  • Small carrot peeled and finely chopped 1/4

  • French beans finely chopped 7-8

  • Small cabbage finely chopped 1/4

  • Button mushrooms finely chopped 6-7

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns crushed to taste

  • Soy sauce 1 tablespo teaspoon

  • Ginger chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Green chillies slit 3

  • Red chilli sauce 2 tablespoons

  • Medium green capsicum cut into 1 inch dices 1

  • Medium onion cut into 1 inch dices and layers separated 1

  • Spring onion greens cut into 1 inch pieces 2 stalks

  • Dried red chilli flakes 1/2 teaspoon

  • Cornflour slurry 2 tablespoons

  • Spring onion greens stalks chopped to garnish

Method

Step 1

To make stuffing, heat 1 tbsp oil in a deep non-stick pan, add ¼ tsp garlic, spring onion bulbs, carrot, French beans, cabbage, mushrooms, salt, crushed black peppercorns and ½ tsp soy sauce, mix well and sauté for 2 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and set aside to cool down.

Step 2

Place some stuffing in the centre of each dough roundel, apply water on the edges, bring them together, seal and give the momos any shape of your choice.

Step 3

Heat sufficient oil in a deep pan, slide in the momos, a few at a time, and deep-fry till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 4

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a deep non-stick pan, add 1 tbsp garlic, ginger and green chillies and red chilli sauce, mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Add capsicum, onion, spring onion greens, fried momos, red chilli flakes and salt and toss well. Add ¼ cup water, cornflour slurry and soy sauce, mix well and cook for 1 minute.

Step 6

Transfer onto a serving plate, garnish with chopped spring onion greens and serve hot.
