Ingredients list for Ambul Thiyal - SK Khazana

  • 500 grams Shark fish baby fillet, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 6-7 Tamarind (gorake) soaked in water
  • 2 inch Ginger sliced
  • 3-4 Green chillies
  • 1/2 inch stick Cinnamon
  • to taste Salt
  • 15-20 Curry leaves
  • as required Banana leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • Fresh coriander sprigs a few + for garnish

Method

  1. Out ginger, green chillies, cinnamon and gorake in a blender jar, add sufficient water and blend into a smooth paste.
  2. Take fish pieces in a bowl, add the ground paste, salt and curry leaves. Add a little water in which gorake was soaked and mix well.
  3. Line an earthen pot with a piece of banana leaf and grease it with a little oil. Place the fish pieces in it, add coriander sprigs, cover the pot and place it on heat. Cook till the fish is cooked completely.
  4. Transfer on to a serving plate, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
