How to make Banana Kheer -

Chopped ripe bananas cooked with milk and served garnished with sauteed dried fruits.

History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.
Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Banana Kheer Recipe

  • Banana chopped 3 medium

  • Milk 750 millilitres

  • Sugar 3/4 cup

  • Green cardamom powder 2 teaspoons

  • Raisins soaked 3 tablespoons

  • Almonds chopped 10

  • Cashewnuts chopped 10

  • Pistachios chopped 10

  • Saffron (kesar) a pinch

  • Ghee 2 teaspoons


Step 1

Heat milk in a non stick pan. Allow it to boil.

Step 2

Add sugar and cardamom powder, and allow the milk to simmer on low heat for 20 minutes.

Step 3

Add bananas and cook for further five minutes. Add saffron and stir well.

Step 4

In another non stick pan heat ghee. Saute almonds, cashewnuts, pistachios and raisins till golden.

Step 5

Remove from heat and add to the banana mixture. Cook for five minutes till the milk thickens.

Step 6

Remove from flame.

Step 7

Serve hot.
