Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Chicken with Banana Flower - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Boneless chicken cut into cubes 200 grams

  • Banana flower chopped and soaked in water with salt and turmeric 1 1/2 cups

  • Mustard oil 2 tablespoons

  • Medium onion chopped 1

  • Ginger-garlic paste 2 teaspoons

  • Bay leaves 2

  • Dried red chillies 2

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper powder to taste

  • Fresh coriander sprigs to garnish

  • Steamed riceq to garnish

Method

Step 1

Drain the banana flower, squeeze excess water and put into a bowl.

Step 2

Heat mustard oil in a deep non-stick pan, add onion, ginger-garlic paste, bay leaves and broken red chillies. Mix and sauté till the mixture is browned and fragrant.

Step 3

Add turmeric powder and chicken, mix well and sauté for a minute. Add cumin powder and salt, mix well and sauté on low heat for 10 minutes or till chicken gets cooked.

Step 4

Add banana flower and mix well, cover and cook for 10 minutes on medium heat. Add black pepper and add little water and mix well. Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes on medium heat. Switch off heat.

Step 5

Transfer into a serving plate and serve hot, garnished with coriander sprigs with steamed rice.
