By Sanjeev Kapoor 04 May 2020 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Basmati rice, Green tomatoes Cuisine Indian,Fusion Course Rice Prep Time 16-20 minutes Cook time 11-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Tangy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for Green Tomato Tamarind Rice - SK Khazana 3 cups Basmati rice boiled 6 small Green tomatoes 5 tablespoons Tamarind juice 3 tablespoons Ghee 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon Asafoetida 10-12 Curry leaves 1 teaspoon Split skinless black gram (dhuli urad dal) 3-4 Green chillies slit 1 inch Ginger finely chopped 1 1/2 teaspoons Split Bengal gram (chana dal) 2 tablespoons Raw peanuts crushed to taste Salt 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped Method Discard the eye of the tomatoes and cut them into wedges. Set aside. Heat ghee in a wide pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves, mix and saute for a few seconds. Add split black grams, green chillies, ginger, split Bengal gram and peanuts, mix and saute for 1 minute. Add green tomato wedges and salt, mix well. cover and cook till tomatoes soften. Add ¼ cup water and mix well. Add Tata Sampann Turmeric Powder and mix well. Add tamarind juice and mix well. Add cooked basmati rice and mix well. Add salt and coriander leaves and toss well. Take the pan off the heat.
