Homemade French Fries

Who doesn’t like French fries? Make them at home and enjoy them without any guilt for they are air-fried and deep-fried. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients list for Homemade French Fries

  • 4 medium Potatoes peeled and cut into fingers
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • Tomato sauce
  • 3 cups Fresh tomato puree
  • ¼ cup Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon Dried ginger powder (soonth)
  • to taste Black salt (kala namak)
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vinegar

Method

  1. Boil sufficient water in a deep non-stick pan. Add potato fingers and salt and cook till the potato fingers are almost done. Strain.
  2. Freeze the boiled potato fingers for 20-25 minutes. Transfer into a zip-lock bag and freeze again for 2-3 hours.
  3. To prepare tomato sauce, heat tomato puree in another deep non-stick pan. Add honey, chilli powder, dried ginger powder and black salt, mix and cook on low heat till the mixture reduces and thickens.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 180º C.
  5. Add olive oil to frozen potato fingers and toss well. Transfer into the air fryer basket.
  6. Put the basket into the preheated air fryer and air cook for 12-15 minutes.
  7. Add salt to the sauce and mix. Add vinegar, mix and cook for 2 minutes. Transfer into a serving bowl.
  8. Transfer the French fries onto the worktop, sprinkle salt over them and mix well. Transfer into a paper bag.
  9. Serve hot with tomato sauce.
