Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Kachumber Salad Recipe

  • Cucumber 2 medium

  • Raddish 1 medium

  • Carrot 1 medium

  • Onions 2 medium

  • Tomato 1 medium

  • Green capsicum 1 medium

  • Tamarind water 1/2 cup

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 tablespoon

  • Green chilli 1

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Strain tamarind water into a bowl. Add sugar and red chilli powder and mix well. Cut cucumbers into thin strips and add to the bowl.

Step 2

Cut radish and carrot into thin strips and add all these to the bowl.

Step 3

Finely slice onions and add to the bowl. Remove the seeds of the tomato and cut into thin strips.

Step 4

Cut green capsicum into thin strips and add. Finely slice green chilli diagonally and add to the bowl.

Step 5

Add fresh coriander leaves and Tata salt lite and mix well. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve.
