By Sanjeev Kapoor 08 Mar 2019 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Prawns (medium), Scraped coconut Cuisine Karnataka Course Main Course Seafood Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 16-20 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Non Veg Ingredients list for Karwari Prawn Curry ½ cup Prawns (medium) shelled and deveined ½ cup Scraped coconut to taste Salt ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder 2 tablespoons Coconut oil 1 teaspoon Coriander seeds 4-5 Black peppercorns 1 teaspoon Rice ½ teaspoon Tamarind pulp 2 tablespoons Onions finely chopped 2-3 Drumsticks scraped and cut into 2 inch pieces 3-4 Dried red chillies Method Put prawns in a bowl, add salt and turmeric powder, mix and set aside to marinate. Heat 1 tablespoon coconut oil in a shallow non-stick pan. Add coriander seeds and peppercorns and sauté till fragrant. Break red chillies and add to the pan, mix and roast for 30 seconds. Remove from heat and transfer into a mixer jar. Add rice, tamarind pulp, 1 tablespoon chopped onion, coconut and some water and grind to a fine paste. Heat remaining coconut oil in another non-stick pan. Add remaining onion and sauté till dark brown. Add marinated prawns and drumsticks and mix well. Add ½ cup water, mix, cover and cook for 5 minutes or till the drumsticks are soft. Add the ground masala paste and mix. Add water to adjust the consistency and cook on low heat for 2 minutes. Serve hot with rice.
