How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Cook time : 11-15 minutes

Ingredients for Nasi Goreng Recipe

  • Cooked rice 3 cups

  • Boneless chicken cut into thin strips 250 grams

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Onion chopped 1 medium

  • Green chillies chopped 2

  • Garlic chopped 2 cloves

  • Leek chopped 1

  • Coriander seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Eggs 3

  • Prawns (kolambi/jhinga) shelled and deveined 250 grams

  • Soy sauce 3 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Break eggs in a bowl, add salt and whisk well.

Step 2

Heat a non stick pan and make omelettes. Slice into thin stripes and set aside.

Step 3

Heat oil in a wok, add onions, green chillies, garlic, and leeks. Saute till soft.

Step 4

Add coriander seeds and cumin powder. Saute for 2 minutes.

Step 5

Add chicken strips and toss for 5 minutes.Add prawns add cook for 3 minutes.

Step 6

Add cooked rice, omelette pieces, soy sauce and salt.

Step 7

Toss well and cook further for 5 minutes with little water. Serve hot.
