Ingredients list for Prawns Varuval

  • 20-25 Medium prawns shelled, deveined and washed
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black peppercorns crushed
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons Coconut oil
  • 8-10 Curry leaves
  • 2 Green chillies slit
  • 1 Medium onion sliced
  • to garnish Fresh coriander sprigs

Method

  1. Take prawns in a bowl, add ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and crushed black peppercorns, mix well and set aside to marinage for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 1½ tbsps oil in a non-stick pan, add the marinated prawns and sauté on high heat for 3-4 minutes. Take it off the heat and transfer into another bowl.
  3. Heat remaining oil in the same pan, add curry leaves and green chillies, mix and sauté for a 1 minute. Add onion, mix and sauté till golden brown.
  4. Add the prawns, mix well and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Transfer into a serving platter, garnish with coriander sprigs and serve hot.
