By Sanjeev Kapoor 16 Aug 2016 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Raw fresh shrimp, Tamarind Cuisine Karnataka Course Main Course Seafood Prep Time 51-60 minutes Cook time 11-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Moderate Others Non Veg Ingredients list for Prawns Puli Munchi Raw fresh shrimp peeled and deveined 1 Pound 1 Tamarind lemon size ball 10-12 Dry red chilies (Byadge or Kundapur chilies) 1/2 teaspoon Coriander seeds 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds a pinch Turmeric powder 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds 8 Garlic cloves 8-10 Curry leaves to taste Salt Method Soak the tamarind in water for about an hour and extract the pulp. Dry roast the chilies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, 4 cloves of garlic with turmeric with 1 table spoon of oil. Use little water and grind the above to a fine thick paste with tamarind. Heat oil in a pan. Add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, crushed garlic, when they splutter, add the paste, water as needed, salt and bring it to a boil. Add the shrimps and simmer for 5 to 8 minutes. Serve hot over rice.
