By Sanjeev Kapoor 20 Jul 2016 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Sugar, Basmati rice Cuisine Maharashtrian Course Mithais Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 31-40 minutes Serve 4 Taste Sweet Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for Sakhar Bhaat 1 1/2 cups Sugar 1 cup Basmati rice soaked 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1/2 cup Ghee 2-3 Cloves 1/2 teaspoon Green cardamom powder 1 tablespoon Saffron (kesar) soaked in warm milk 1 tablespoon Almond slivers 1 tablespoon Raisins Method Dissolve sugar in half a cup of water and keep aside. Add lemon juice to it. Reserve 1 tablespoon ghee and heat the remaining ghee in a non-stick pan. Add cloves and rice, sauté for 2 minutes over medium heat. Add 2 cups of hot water. Mix well and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Add sugar syrup and stir well. Add cardamom powder and saffron milk. Mix well, cover and cook till dry. Reserve some of the dry fruits and add the remaining along with the reserved ghee. Mix well, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
