Ingredients list for Shepherd's Pie - SK Khazana

  • 300 grams Mutton mince (keema)
  • Potatoes mashed
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 2 medium Onions finely chopped
  • 8-10 Garlic finely chopped
  • 1 inch Ginger finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Celery chopped
  • 1 medium Tomato chopped
  • 1 cup Tomato puree
  • 2 medium Carrots peeled and cut into small cubes
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Crushed black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup Peas blanched
  • 1/2 cup Sweet corn kernels boiled
  • for garnish Parsley springs

Method

  1. Heat oil in a deep pan, add onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add garlic and ginger, mix well and saute for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add mutton mince, break lumps while mixing and sauté on high heat for 2-3 minutes. Add celery and tomato and mix well.
  3. Add tomato puree, mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add carrots and mix well.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180˚C.
  5. Add salt, crushed black peppercorns, oregano and Worcestershire sauce to the mince and mix well. Cover and cook till the mince is completely cooked.
  6. Add peas and sweet corn, mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Transfer the mixture into a shallow baking dish and spread evenly.,
  8. Transfer mashed potatoes into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle and pipe out over the mince till it is completely covered.
  9. Keep the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. Take it out of the oven.
  10. Ladle out portions into individual serving plates, garnish with parsley sprig and serve hot.
