Favourite seafood? Prawns, prawns and more of prawns. A wide variety of small crustaceans, tiny relatives of the lobster, are known as prawns. Prawns are normally translucent when raw but get their distinctive pink or red colour on being cooked. one word of caution – if buying unpeeled prawns, smell for freshness and look for bright, shiny shells that have some spring left in them.

Ingredients for Spicy Masala Prawns Recipe

  • Medium prawns cleaned and deveined 25-30

  • Ghee 3 tablespoons

  • Medium onion chopped 1

  • Garlic chopped 5-6 cloves

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli paste 2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Medium tomato copped 1

  • Tomato ketchup 1 tablespoon

  • Vinegar 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespo to garnish

Method

Step 1

Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add onion and sauté till translucent. Add garlic, sauté till fragrant.

Step 2

Add cumin powder and coriander powder, mix well and saute for 1 minute.

Step 3

Add red chilli paste, mix well and saute for 1 minute. Add salt, mix and saute for 1 minute.

Step 4

Add tomato, mix well, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Add prawns and mix well. Add some water, mix, cover and simmer for 5-6 minutes.

Step 6

Add tomato ketchup and vinegar and mix well. Cook for 4-5 minutes.

Step 7

Add coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 8

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
