Besides the fact that seafood is really delicious and light on the tummy it offers a great deal of health benefits too. Great skin, a healthy heart and sharper brain are amongst a few.

Ingredients for Ambul Thiyal - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Shark fish baby fillet, cut into 1 inch pieces 500 grams

  • Tamarind (gorake) soaked in water 6-7

  • Ginger sliced 2 inch

  • Green chillies 3-4

  • Cinnamon 1/2 inch stick

  • Salt to taste

  • Curry leaves 15-20

  • Banana leaves as required

  • Oil 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander sprigs a few + for garnish


Step 1

Out ginger, green chillies, cinnamon and gorake in a blender jar, add sufficient water and blend into a smooth paste.

Step 2

Take fish pieces in a bowl, add the ground paste, salt and curry leaves. Add a little water in which gorake was soaked and mix well.

Step 3

Line an earthen pot with a piece of banana leaf and grease it with a little oil. Place the fish pieces in it, add coriander sprigs, cover the pot and place it on heat. Cook till the fish is cooked completely.

Step 4

Transfer on to a serving plate, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
