Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Chicken Strips Recipe

  • Chicken 1/2 kilogram

  • Bread Slices 3-4 slices

  • Cloves 2

  • Cinnamon inch stick

  • Green cardamom 3

  • Black peppercorns 3

  • Poppy seeds (khuskhus/posto) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Fennel seeds (saunf) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Garlic 3 cloves

  • Ginger 1/2 inch piece

  • Green chillies 3

  • Fresh coriander leaves a few

  • Fresh mint leaves a few

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Tandoori powder 1 teaspoon

  • Cornflour/ corn starch 2-3 tablespoons

  • Egg 1

  • Lemon juice 1/2 teaspoon

  • Tomato ketchup 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil plus to deep fry 2 tablespoons

  • Bread crumbs to coat

  • Refined flour (maida) 4-5 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • White pepper powder to taste

Method

Step 1

Blend together cloves, cinnamon, green cardamoms, peppercorns, poppy seeds, fennel seeds, ginger, garlic, green chillies, coriander leaves, mint leaves, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and tandoori powder. Add bread slices and blend once more. Add chicken mince and blend for a minute.

Step 2

Transfer the mixture into a bowl. Add cornstarch, egg, lemon juice, tomato ketchup, salt and two teaspoons of oil and mix well. Sprinkle a little cornstarch and keep in the refrigerator for about half an hour. Mix all the ingredients of the batter to make a smooth mixture.

Step 3

Let it stand for fifteen minutes. Sprinkle a little flour and roll the dough to one-inch thickness. Cut into strips of one to one and a half inches length. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Dip the chicken strips in the batter.

Step 4

Coat with breadcrumbs and deep fry on medium heat till golden brown. Drain onto an absorbent paper. Serve hot with sauce or green chutney.
