And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Jhat Pat Tomato Alu Recipe

  • Potato boiled and mashed 2 medium

  • Tomato chopped 2 medium

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Curry leaves 8

  • Garlic chopped 5 cloves

  • Ginger chopped 1 inch piece

  • Onion chopped 1 medium

  • Spring onion chopped 1/4 cup

  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Garam masala 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non stick pan, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves and crushed garlic, Saute till light brown. Add green peas and tomatoes and sauté well.

Step 2

Add cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt. Mix well and add little water.

Step 3

Heat oil in a non stick pan, add cumin seeds and curry leaves. Saute till seeds splutter. Add garlic, ginger, onion and spring onions. Saute till light brown.

Step 4

Add cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala and tomatoes. Saute for two minutes. Add mashed potatoes, salt and one cup water. Mix well. Allow the mixture to boil. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
