Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Papad Cones - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Papads 4

  • Green Bengal gram (hare chane) boiled 1 cup

  • Tomatoes chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Raw mango chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Onion chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Sev 1 tablespo to garnish

  • Green chilli chopped 1

  • Chaat masala 1/4 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Roasted cumin powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powdewr 1/4 teaspoon

  • Lemon 1/2

  • Fresh coriander sprigs to garnish


Step 1

Cut papads in half and roast each on a non-stick tawa. Shape into a cone while still warm.

Step 2

Take boiled green gram in a bowl. Add chopped tomatoes, onions, raw mango, fresh coriander, sev, green chilli, chaat masala, salt, roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder and squeeze the juice of ½ lemon and mix well.

Step 3

Fill the prepared mixture in the papad cones. Garnish with sev and coriander sprig. Serve immediately.
