Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Pepper Chicken Uttappam Recipe

  • Boneless chicken cut into thin strips 400 grams

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Dosa Batter as required

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Cumin seeds ½ teaspoon

  • Curry leaves 7-8

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Garlic finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Ginger finely chopped 1 inch

  • Green chilli finely chopped 1

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Coconut oil 1 teaspoon + for greasing

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon


Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds and sauté for 30 seconds.

Step 2

Add curry leaves and sauté. Add onion, mix and sauté till it turns light brown. Add garlic, mix and sauté. Add ginger, mix and sauté for 1 minute.

Step 3

Add green chilli and coriander powder, mix and sauté well. Add chicken and mix.

Step 4

Add salt, crushed peppercorns, mix and cook till the chicken is fully done. Add coconut oil, mix and cook till dry.

Step 5

Add coriander leaves and mix. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 6

Heat a non-stick tawa and grease with some coconut oil. Spread a ladleful of batter into a medium sized roundel, drizzle oil on the edges and let the underside cook. Spread a spoonful of the cooked chicken mixture on top, press lightly, flip and cook for 1 minute.

Step 7

Serve hot.
