Favourite seafood? Prawns, prawns and more of prawns. A wide variety of small crustaceans, tiny relatives of the lobster, are known as prawns. Prawns are normally translucent when raw but get their distinctive pink or red colour on being cooked. one word of caution – if buying unpeeled prawns, smell for freshness and look for bright, shiny shells that have some spring left in them.

Ingredients for Prawn Massaman Curry-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Medium prawns shelled and deveined 12-16

  • Spring onion greens chopped 3/4 cup

  • Garlic chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Galangal chopped 1 inch

  • Lemon grass stalk chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Coriander seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Dried red chillies soaked and chopped 3-4

  • Black peppercorns 1 teaspoon

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Large potato boiled, peeled and cut into cubes 1

  • Coconut milk 1 cup

  • Spring onion greens Cut into strips 1 tablespo to garnish


Step 1

Heat a non-stick pan. Add spring onion greens, garlic, galangal, lemongrass, coriander seeds and cumin seeds, mix and sauté for 5 minutes. Transfer into a blender jar.

Step 2

Add dried red chillies, peppercorns and some water blend to a fine paste.

Step 3

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add 2-3 tablespoons prepared paste, mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add salt, prawns and potatoes and mix well. Add coconut milk, stir and cook till the prawns are fully done. Add spring onion green strips and mix well.

Step 5

Garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot.
