Ingredients list for Rice Soya Burger

  • 2 cups Cooked rice leftover
  • 1 cup Soya granules soaked & drained
  • 3-4 Green chillies chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder roasted
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 medium Potato boiled, peeled and mashed
  • 1 large Onion chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Dark soy sauce
  • 5-6 sprigs Fresh coriander leaves
  • 3 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 medium Onion cut into roundels and each roundel separated
  • a few Iceberg lettuce leaves
  • 2-3 medium Tomatoes cut into round slices
  • a few Cheese slices

Method

  1. Put rice in a chopper. Add green chillies, soya granules and process till well mixed.
  2. Transfer the mixture into a large mixing bowl, add garam masala powder, cumin powder, turmeric power and red chilli powder and mix well.
  3. Add potato, onion and salt and mix everything well. Add ½ tsp soy sauce. Chop coriander leaves and add and mix everything well.
  4. Heat oil in a non-stick grill pan. Dampen your hands, take equal portions of mixture in your hands and shape into a pattie and put in the grill pan. Add onion roundels along with the patties and cook them too.
  5. When the underside of the patties is golden, turn them over and cook the other side similarly.
  6. Arrange the patties on serving plates.
  7. Add ½ tsp soy sauce to the onions in the grill pan and mix well. Saute for another minute or so. Switch off heat.
  8. Keep lettuce leaves over the patties and arrange tomato slices over them. Place the sautéed onion rings over the tomato slices. Keep a cheese slice over each.
  9. Keep the plates in the oven at 180° C for 15-20 seconds or till the cheese begins to melt.
  10. Serve hot.
